Water is not waste.

Four projects that become more interesting the moment water stops being treated as one clean input followed by one dirty output.

The pattern

Conventional cities simplify water into two categories: potable water arrives; wastewater leaves.

These projects make the middle visible—rainwater, greywater, blackwater, heat, nutrients, wetlands and living organisms—then design different relationships for each.

Field notes

Yogawiser read

The first design move is not always a new treatment technology. Sometimes it is refusing to mix different waters together.
